Bloomfield Garden Center is a family owned, retail greenhouse providing locally grown plants. You can find us 1 mile north of Sabin, Minnesota or 6 miles south of I-94 Exit 6 on Clay County Road 11. We are a quick drive from Moorhead, Minnesota and Fargo, North Dakota. With 30,000 square feet of growing space, we strive to fill each of the 8 retail greenhouses with color and variety. The greenhouse doors are painted different colors to help guide you to the right place. There are specialty annuals (purple and green), bedding plants in cell packs (yellow), geraniums (pink), shade annuals (blue), perennials (grey) and vegetables and herbs (orange).
The Barn, which is the retail center and checkout, is a traditional barn red and features gardening accessories, supplies and garden decor. The Front House is connected to the barn and is filled with a succulents and featured plants. Plus, we utilize the old potato house as a propagation center for cuttings and seeds, an employee only greenhouse for young plants and custom orders and the Planting House is a cat hangout and has a public restroom. There is parking right off 70th Street (county road 11) and additional parking off 70th Avenue (gravel road). Enjoy our wide-open spaces with benches and picnic tables out all season!
Bloomfield Garden Center has been owned and operated by Charlie and Shelly Pingel since 2016. The family business was known as Levi Runions Garden Center from 1989 to 2015. Charlie's parents, Art & Ardith Pingel, founded Double A Growers in 1974 as a hobby and ran it until 1989. For several decades, they had pop-up greenhouses in 4 locations in Fargo and Moorhead as well as a floral shop in the Northport Shopping Center for 10 years. There are many families who have grown up shopping with us and are introducing the 3rd generation to gardening with plants and seeds from Sabin!
